One of the things I’d always loved about Derrick was his sense of humor. It wasn’t slap-stick silly; or the lewd frat boy style of guys I’d previously dated. His humor was of a witty, subtler type. That was one of the benefits of being with someone so smart, I’d told myself. So, I assumed he was joking about selling our house. He had to be, right?
“Derrick, that’s not funny. I’m serious.”
“So am I. Tom found us a buyer. They stopped by the other day and took a quick look around. Not in the tenet’s apartments of course. But they’re definitely interested and want to offer one million dollars to take the building as is!”
